All kinds of ambition

We were the first foundation Trust to be established in South West London. And since then we have become widely respected and awarded for our work in dementia care.

The Alzheimer’s Society selected Kingston Hospital as a best practice example of dementia care in their report ‘Fix Dementia Care’, and we were featured in national BBC coverage.

Our maternity services are also recognised locally and nationally. In the latest maternity survey by the Care Quality Commission we were rated as the Best maternity Service in London, and our maternity service is among the top 20% in the country.

Our emergency department is one of only four Trusts in London providing at least 16 hours a day consultant cover, and the only one in South West London meeting all of the London emergency standards

We’ve also been awarded the Top 40 Hospital award from CHKS – the definitive hospital benchmarking organisation – many times over.

And we’re proud to report that the Volunteering Strategy has boosted our team from 350 to 600 kind, dedicated volunteers.

But we’re not complacent. We will create the Trust’s first dedicated dementia friendly ward, which will see the environment completely transformed.

Working closely with patients, families, carers, staff, health and social care providers and the voluntary sector, we’re also developing the first ever Dementia Strategy for Kingston Hospital. It will help us ensure we diagnose early, maintain our reputation for truly compassionate care, support carers, help patients to maintain routines in hospital, and enhance our environment.
